    Good News - April 17, 2000

We were fortunate to have Ted Rosen’s friends, Roger Wallis and Margaret Wallis come to our club last Saturday April 15, 2000.  Roger is a member of the Ontario Badminton Association (OBA) and a level 3 coach and was kind enough to show us some basic skills for improving our game.
    The skills are:

    • Holding the badminton racket in a proper way
    • Racket up before hit any shot
    • Backhand serve - low, high straight and low high cross-court start with the same movement
    • Backhand return – drive it back just above the net
    • Footwork – none racket foot moves first
    • Clear – hit at the highest point with straight arm, elbow straight beside the head
We are going to reserve 2 courts on every Saturday to learn the above techniques with accuracy and consistency.  If any of you would like to do the drills, please come on Saturday before 9:00 p.m.

    Good News - March 06, 2000

March 18th cancellation is back on, so come and enjoy.

The number of participants in the club has now exceeded 50.  It is getting increasingly difficult to manage the club with so many players, and with only 3 courts, the time between games has become too long. For this reason, we have decided to divide the club players into two groups, member and guest.  All Centennial College staff and staff friends belong to the member group.  All friends of friends belong to the guest group.  There will be two distinct sign-in sheets this coming Friday, one for the above groups.

**** Guests must reserve a date with us prior to Friday and/or Saturday night.  Limited 4 guests per night, booking works on a first come first serve basis. ****

We are sorry we have to do this, but it¡¦s necessary.  This summer we hope to have a larger facility to accommodate more members.

    Thank you for your understanding,

    Hong Trinh - Htrinh@lmail.cencol.on.ca
    David Loeppky - Dloeppky@lmail.cencol.on.ca

    News (Mar. 01, 2000)

We would ask that staff only bring a maximum of two friends to the club, as the number of members has now exceeded 50.  This is primarily due to friends asking friends asking friends to come and play.  While we appreciate the overwhelming interest and participation of club members, we cannot maintain the club with so many players.  We hope to have larger facilities in future to accommodate more players.

    Thank you!
